Saint Michael (San Miguel)

The leader of the Heavenly Host, Saint Michael is the personal enemy and victor over Satan.  For this reason he also escorts souls to heaven and will assist in the day of final judgment.  Many churches dedicated to Saint Michael have been built on mountain tops because it is believed that the Satan occupies the middle ground.  He is an archangel who is mentioned in Jewish, Christian and Islamic teachings.  He is the patron of bankers, grocers, radiologist and paratroopers.  He is also evoked to guard children against evil.  Saint Michael’s feast day is September 29th.
